ANNUAL MEETING OF MINMINI

MINMINI - SHINING STAR ASSOCIATION-CHENNAI
The Association is 60 years old. It was launched by young Christian Devendra Kula Velalars from various villages of the erstwhile Tirunelveli Dist comprising Tiurnelveli, Tuticorin, parts of Virudhunagar, and Sivakasi who had come to Chennai City in search of jobs. Having come from far away places, they needed an association to meet once in a month and discuss various issues. Thus born the Minmini Association . Today it comprises about 175 life members all of them hailing from Tirunelveli Dist and related through marriages. The situation in the pre Independence era was that the Christian converts from DKV community were denied local jobs and even their own village community refused to marry with them. Hence, they have to look for Christian alliances in the neighbouring villages and thus Christian DKVs in over 100 villages became relatives. It serves as the common platform for the Christian ( all Denominations )DKVs in Chennai to meet once in a year to share their joys and sorrows, pray and thank the Lord Jesus for having won by His precious blood, arranging some marriages, giving gifts to the students who score high marks in 10th SSLC and 12th + 2 and college studies.
The day of the General Body Meeting is fixed on 26th January irrespective of any year. The meetin begins at 9.30 am and conludes at 4.30 pm. The function starts with a Prayer. The welcome address, the Secretary's Report, Submission of Annual Accounts by Treasurer, Speech by the President, the Message by the Guest Preaher, Bible Quiz, presentation of prizes to students, self introduction of new members, release of the Min Mini Malar annual issue, release of Min Mini calender with Bible verses, GK quiz, etc are the main issues. Once in two years, elections are held. A delicious lunch is provided. An address list is released every year updating the older one to enbale the relatives to keep communicating.
